HISTORY OF THE BLOCK ROSARY CRUSADE BRIGADE OF GUARD

Nonetheless, according to Col. Sir. Iduma Stephen, KSJ who was a committee member for the harmonization of BRCBG, before the 2nd National Congress of the Block Rosary Crusade (BRC) in the Year 1999, held in Jos, Plateau State, at St. Mulumba's College, under the leadership of Bro. Augustine Imoh (from Lagos Archdiocese), different Brigades existed in various Dioceses with different uniforms, origin, name and structure.

So, after the National Congress, the National Council formed a committee, tasked to draft a bye law for the unification of the Brigades in different parts of the Country, then in 2002 May Conference, held in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, the reports were adopted, and all Dioceses were directed to change to what is now known as Block Rosary Crusade Brigade of Guard(BRCBG), with the blue and white khaki chosen as the national uniform and the motto still Prayer, Penance and Sacrifice.

Please note, that Bro. Sir Clement Mary Ndukwe, the cofounder, later left the Catholic Church to Protestantism.

The first Chief National Commander, Col. Moses Osang (a soldier in the Nigerian Army) from Kaduna Archdiocese was chosen/selected.

Furthermore, at the 2017 Centenary Congress held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Ogbor-hill, Aba Diocese, Sir. Clement Mary Opara, J.P. was officially recognized and invested as the sole founder of BRCBG in Nigeria.

Finally, her National Instructor is Col. Partrick Salami Egbuche (Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army) while her current National Commander is Maj. Festus Mary l. Amuzie from Sokoto Diocese (Kaduna Province) elected at Sacred Heart Chaplaincy, Elele, Port Harcourt Diocese in the 2018 October BRC National Conference.
