Real Madrid yesterday won the Champions League final by 1-0 against Liverpool of England. The match was played in Paris and the winning goal was scored by Vinicius Junior in the 59th minute.
The "merengue" team, was well received by tens of thousands of fans in the Streets of the Spanish capital, went straight to the Almudena Cathedral at about 6:15 pm, where Cardinal Carlos Osoro, Archbishop of Madrid, welcomed them.
It is not the first time that Real Madrid has offered the Champions League Trophy to Our Lady of Almudena, as it is a tradition that has several decades of history.

In this case, it is the fourteenth Champions League Trophy that the Madrid team obtains.
During the visit, Cardinal Osoro, greeted the players "with affection and joy", saying that "it is stimulating to share a path with others, to support each other in the search for success".
As reported by the Archdiocese of Madrid, the Cardinal also thanked them for taking the name of the Spanish capital to as many part of the World, as Saint Isidore the Farmer did, "a simple man with presence on all continents", and to whom a Holy Year is being dedicated.
For his part, during the brief ceremony, the director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid, former soccer player Emilio Butragueño, read some petitions, one of which asked that those present experience "the maternal protection of the Virgin Mary."
